J&G Lines bow

Circa 1890

Finished height approx 41"

Jake is a very beautiful plain carved bow rocker made by J & G Lines.

Estimated circa 1880 - 1890 with dished face and arched, muscular neck typical of this era.

Jake has had a hard life and needs extensive repairs including new legs and bows but once finished he will be very special. Antique rocking horses this early are hard to come by and worth the effort involved.

He will be fitted with beech legs as he would originally have had, cut using a pattern made from his own legs. His bows will be an exact replica of the original and once he is back in full glory he should stand 41" high and 68" long.

Many thanks to Jan Rusling of Rocking Horse Elite for letting this grand old fellow go and for help with exact replicas of replacement parts.

SOLD - apologies to anyone who had been interested. Happily, Jake's "mother" can keep him after all.

Jake will look similar to Legolas, who is a smaller version of him.

Legolas was in somewhat similar condition on arrival, with chipped ears, no legs or eyes (but still with his bows).
