Bruno

A remarkable find. This Roebuck is a bit of a puzzle and assumed to be from the early 1940s, as indicated by the pillar design dating to the 1920s and 30s, and curiously small cast brackets. Possibly leftovers after production of smaller models ceased? The stand is inconsistent with the design of the horse's body, the harness colouring of tan and dusty pink is also highly unusual.

This horse is in what we consider remarkable condition for its age, with paint well-preserved and even most of the leather worn by time but very little use. Even the very delicate saddle flap leather is largely intact and much of the leather tooling is still clean and crisp.

An invaluable addition to our reference library...

Restoration to this horse should be absolutely minimal. Given what a treasure it is to see original factory finish remaining it would be heartbreaking to see it altered. Ideally it would be stabilised to prevent the small amount of flaking from further deterioration however I would be willing to fit mane and tail as well as some very light reconstruction to missing paint if desperately wished.
