WWII Period Roebuck
No 3 Roebuck
Circa 1945
Nicknamed "Lilac" while restoration was carried out because of the layer of lilac paint that was discovered all over horse and stand.
This horse arrived in one piece but was literally held together by vast amounts of strapping generously stapled on with a gun. Once removed the horse simply fell apart as the glue had long perished.
An extensive restoration - the horse was in far worse condition than anticipated, with broken limbs, a mostly rotted stand, and panels that didn't fit as they had warped since the glue stopped holding it all together.
