Edmund

This is Edmund, a 38" Lines Sportiboy. Edmund is a perfect example of what The Rocking Horse Studio is able to do, as he had a major reconstruction to replace unsound pieces (see restoration photos at the top of this page). He was imported in 2010, intended to be our own family "pet" but by the time he was finished the ultimate authority (who would argue with a two-year-old?) decided he preferred another horse.

After a hard life, poor "repairs", he took some knocks in transit and has undergone extensive repairs and restoration. His hind legs, one foreleg and all leg joints were in such poor condition we decided his tummy board and three legs should be replaced, these are not noticeable but he is now fit for use. Edmund has new gesso, G&J Lines style dappling (not strictly accurate but he has such a strong Lines look about him we couldn't resist), finished with antiquing glazes. He is mounted on a new stand that is a replica of what he would originally have had, retaining original swing irons and hoof rail bowler hats. It has been French polished and finished with beeswax, and will grow more beautiful in the coming years with an occasional wax and buff.

Edmund won many hearts, and we still receive occasional emails from people who admired him when he was for sale. We know how much he is loved by his new "Mum" and hope he gives much pleasure at his new home in rural Victoria.
